Waterworks, Lyme Park

The Brief

Clear Living were asked to design structural glass balustrading and a bespoke glass and steel feature staircase.

The client wa wishing to retain minimal sightlines and subtle visual impact. Glass ablustrade together with glass stairtreads was requested

The Solution

Clear Living designed the staircase using a unique glass clamping method. All glass was made from 19mm clear toughened safety glass and was installed into a steel channeling system. The glass was secured into place using a high strength filler which, when cured, provided the balustrade with sufficient strength to cope with the loadings required for a residential structure.

The glass stair treads were made from 3 pieces of toughened glass which were then laminated together. Clear Living utilised the unique Hansen CeraGrit antislip coating, to ensure maximum safety was provided.

The Result

Clear Living completed the project ahead of schedule and their unique design ensured that the project was given maximum visual impact. A stunning entrance has been created to this beautiful old building which has been widely recognised as a design gem overlooking Lyme Park.
