Borth Cottage, Abersoch

The Brief

Clear Living were contracted to create a modern link conservatory joining the existing house with the garage area which was to be converted into a games room. Client specifically wanted a modern and contemporary design on this stunning property overlooking the sea at Abersoch. Additionally, clear living were asked to install internal glass floors, internal glass balustrading and also glass partitions.

The Solution

Clear Living specified a frameless glass system suported of glass fins and beams for the glass box.. This allowed for seamless joints with very minimal stainless steel fixing used to connect the glass to the beams due to the 3.5m span.

The glass fins and beams were connected using a mortice and tenon joint system ensuring no mechanical connection was required.

Clear Living also installed their revolutionary new door concept which is a patented design, allowing a frameless double glazed unit to be used as a door without any visible fixings anywhere. This design is the worlds only frameless glass door without mechanical fixings visible and ensure the entire facade continues on a smooth clean line. 2 point locking door handles ensured extreme security in the application.

All the frameless glass utilised the High performance clear solar control glass ensuring extremely low U-Values whilst shielding the client from the suns rays.

The glass floor was done with a sandblast finish to add privacy and anti slip, aswell as allowing light into the area.

The Result

The frameless glass box was crucial in achieving the modern feel of the property and is a stunning addition. The smooth lines maximised the lights and helped to merge the internal living space with the outside landscape. Structural glass enable minimal sightlines.

The aluminium panelling and aluminium windows helped to create opening vents whilst ensuring the property kept its modern feel.
